I CAN LIKE – Sonora Beach (Estepona)

Written by Dani. Posted in Art, Food, Music, Random

I loved it the first time we ever went. But last night’s special San Juan party has me hooked. This place has you feeling like you’re on some sort of bohemian film set, or flashed back in time to an era where everyone really was on the same wavelength and just there to hook up and have a great time. No pretentiousness, no flashy cashy shiz, the champagne was savoured and shared, not sprayed on someones arse. We knew we were in for a good time at Sonora, but I don’t think any of us quite expected what happened.

Sonora Beach is a proper hidden gem. (Not to say EVERYONE knows about it already, people come from miles away for this vibe and it’s clearly evident why). It’s a beautiful beach bar set in a quiet little cove in Estepona, visually bright and gorgeous with rich dark wood decor against tangeriney orange, reds, pinks, with big sparkly parasols. The people that go there are beautiful too – funked up real happy people, colourful shiny smily friendly and so much fun. I CAN LOVE IT! There’s lots of places here we go to that we like, but I think Sonora has something really unique and special that has been lovingly organically grown over time, slowly morphing into a perfect chilled place to enjoy and catch up with people you’ve not seen for time, eat well, laugh lots and party hard! The staff are quirky and cute and funny too, they love a bit of dress-up and the same people have worked there for years, it must be a lovely place to work!

One of my favourite things about Sonora is the music that they hand pick very carefully. They host events every week with different genres of music played, but they specialise in live bands and acts that are a little more underground than the norm. Stuff like flamenco fusion, Spanish funk, and god knows what genre it was that was played last night by the AWESOME band JIMY JAZZ & ZELU FANK. Two DJs, vinyl decks, sax, percussion, keys, vocals…BLEW US AWAY! I can’t seem to find them on Facebook so if anyone knows their links please hook me up. I did find their MySpace page that does have some of their tunes…blooming brillant.

Anyways, just had to make a post about this place, it’s not often I love a venue like this, so where credit is due, it gets pride of place on here…congratulations Sonora, you’ve managed to nail the balance of atmosphere, music, people and great food and drinks to boot. No complaints here, and you know I love a good moan! hahaha – if you have the chance, get your asses down there…it’s sure to give you the jingle bingles like it has me. Keep an eye on their Facebook Page for event details and what not, you won’t be disappointed that’s for shizzle.

I Can Like – Google Goggles “Project Glass” WATCH THIS!!!!!!!!

Written by Dani. Posted in Music, Random, Tech

You probably know by now that I go weak at the knees for a bit of slick technology that makes me say “HOT DAMN! I NEED THAT!” This is one of those moments. At first I thought yeah yeah who wants that level of ‘eye bling’ gwarning wherever you go?¿

Basically, Project Glass is an eyepiece worn on a spectacles type glasses frame, with a camera, wifi, and all your expected smartphone style apps and whasanames all rolled into one amazing idea. You’ll never need to take your phone or camera out of your pocket ever again. (Unless you forget your Google Goggles) What an amazing idea.

Ahh…just shuddup and watch this for super personalised amazingness – taking hands free, bespoke messaging, interaction, instagramming photography and everything else you can think of to a WHOLE other level. Nice production on the video too…easy as…glass?

All I want for xmas….

I Can Like Food Porn

Written by Dani. Posted in Food, Random

Love the name, love the topic…food that makes you drool and stare at the screen and pretend you took the pic yourself and invented it and made it all yourself. Don’t get me wrong sometimes I do make the food and take the pics myself! Sometimes I just post pictures of what I’ve collectively named it all as just “food porn”. Need I say more? Droolathon cometh…fill your boots.

Sometimes virtuous takes over and the healthiest of dishes are the most appealing…then again…

Got your attention yet?

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM and and special cakey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enough for one post? Maybe one more?? Gwan den:

Until next time foodporns ;) xx

I CAN LIKE Facebook! (Yeah I said it)

Written by Dani. Posted in Random, Tech

First up, sorry for taking an age to put a new post up. I’ve had a LOT of work on and a lot of distracting shizz going on lately that I’ve put icanlike it on the undeserved backburner…thanks to Andy for the nudge and reminder to keep it up…x

I’ve decided to post a post whenever I have that feeling that I’m either overwhelmed with an obession to rant about it, or just think people should know about it…whatever it is…it’s back and I’m ranting again! Just what this was meant to be…so here goes. I’ve had it with the whining on Facebook with people saying how much they hate how it operates and how it works and whatever…so here goes:

If you use the internet publicly, if you have a twitter or a Facebook or a blah blah you’re opening up your stuff to be watched and used by whoever it is youve signed that “I agree to the whatever terms” agreement with. Tough cheese if you don’t read the small print. As much as people diss Facebook, “Oooh you’re invading my privacy”, “Oooh my rights aren’t being heard”, “Oooh I don’t like news feed new layout” “I don’t like timeline”, “Hey Mr Zuckerberg sort it out how DARE you change anything” blah blah… For me, Facebook is our connection to our family far and wide, and I bloody LOVE it. It’s been our one and only point of promotion for our radio channel, our web business, our beach parties, our window into the lives of the people we love and respect, and wouldn’t have much of a clue about visually without Facebook.

If I post something online I don’t expect it in a million years to be 100% mine and private. I use it as much as it uses me, I think that’s the key to a balance with online platforms like Facebook or any other social network for that matter…but I love it. You can change the way it looks a million times over and I’ll still love it. If you’re that bothered about your privacy and your rights, don’t use it. You try going back ten years in internetland and see how you get on.

I thank the stars and skies every day for the delights of the free technology we have to use so easily, that keeps us connected with what we love. I wouldn’t change it for the world. But where’s the fun in something that’s always the same? Embrace change!

(Add me on Facbeook hahahaha) xxxx – with loves
